On behalf of the students and staff of The Guelph Collegiate Vocational Institute, we would like to extend a warm welcome to you and your family for the 2025-2026 school year. We are looking forward to meeting the grade 8 students from Willow Road Public School, Mitchell Woods Public School, Taylor Evans Public School, Gateway Drive Public School and Westwood Public School, as well as students from other schools in G.C.V.I.’s catchment area.
The first step in preparing for September, 2025 is the course selection process. Each grade 8 student will be asked to complete course selection in myblueprint.ca for grade 9 by Friday January 31st, 2025. Our GCVI guidance team will be visiting our feeder schools to help with course selection and answer questions between now and January.
On Thursday December 5th, 2024 at 6:30 pm - 8:15 pm, we will be holding the Grade Eight Information evening at G.C.V.I. starting in the Auditorium. We invite you and your grade eight students to attend. This information session will give you the opportunity to learn about the grade nine courses offered at G.C.V.I. and give you some guidelines to help you choose compulsory and elective courses through myblueprint. You will learn more about the many Student Life opportunities and activities offered at G.C.V.I. After the information session, your family will also have a chance to explore the school through a student-led or self-directed tour. Our Department Heads and some school councils and clubs will be spread out in various parts of the school where you can visit, ask questions and take part in any activities or presentations they are offering. In the meantime, Grade 8 students should continue to work with their parents, teachers and administrators with regards to the course selection process in order to meet the required timelines.
Please note, we have very limited parking at G.C.V.I. so plan ahead to arrive early in case you need to walk a few blocks in order to make the 6:30 pm start time. If you have accessibility needs, please contact the school and we will be sure to arrange parking and use of the elevator if needed.
If you have any questions about the Grade Eight Information Night, the visits to the feeder schools or course selection, please call us at 519 824 9800. We will be pleased to help you.
We look forward to meeting you on Thursday, December 5th, 2024 at 6:30 pm in the Aud.
Sincerely,
James Cako , Principal
