Policy 323 Celebrations and Commemorations
Public Consultation and Policy Feedback
Public consultation on this new draft policy is now closed.
This new policy confirms the board’s commitment to:
recognizing individuals, groups, events, and causes of significance to UGDSB students, staff, and the community through various forms of celebrations and commemorations; and
the display of exterior flags at all board sites, in alignment with Ontario Regulation 298, and flags secondary to the National Flag of Canada and the Provincial Flag of Ontario, where secondary flags support and align with the board’s policies and Multi-Year Plan (currently in Policy 310 - Display of Flags).
This policy is important to students, staff, school councils, parents/guardians/caregivers and community members because the ways in which individuals, groups, events, and causes of significance are recognized and celebrated at schools and board facilities, including through the display of exterior flags, must reflect the values of equity, inclusion and respect for all in the school community.
This policy will replace Policy 310 – Display of Flags.
