Community
Schools are often thought to be the heart of a community. In the Upper Grand District School Board, connections to the community are believed to be integral to the success of students. One of the enablers in the UGDSB's Multi-Year plan is to "Strengthen and grow community relationships."
Upper Grand students reach out to the community in many ways, from volunteering with local organizations to participating in community events like tree plantings and parades. Students and staff are frequently champion fundraisers for local and national charities, such as the annual Terry Fox Run, and are involved globally through engaging with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
The UGDSB makes the use of schools and facilities available to the public through Community Use of Schools program.
Parents and members of the community actively and enthusiastically support our schools by volunteering in the school, classrooms and field trips, and also by taking on roles as members of School Councils and on the Parent Involvement Committee.
