Procurement Department Mission Statement

The Procurement Department is responsible for the cost effective procurement of goods and/or services, in a timely fashion and at an acceptable level of quality to support the activities of the Board. Our goal is to achieve best value for money while maintaining a high level of customer service.

We adhere to all procurement laws, regulations, rules, acts including the Broader Public Sector Procurement Directive, and conduct our activities following a fair, open and transparent procurement process.

The Role of the Procurement Department

The role of the Procurement Department is to:

  • Deliver a high level of customer service and support to the Board

  • Obtain maximum value through negotiation and application of other purchasing strategies

  • Ensure goods and services are purchased through a process that is open, fair and transparent

  • Facilitate and manage the competitive bid process

  • Administer and manage contracts

  • Participate in cooperative and consortium purchasing initiatives

  • Mitigate Risk

  • Develop and manage vendor relationships

  • Strategically source products and services

  • Consider life-cycle activities from acquisition to end-of-use

  • Maintain the highest professional, ethical and moral business practices

  • Demonstrate environmental stewardship and consider the environmental impact of all purchase recommendations
