Students at Wellington Heights SS helped to design and build a set of cornhole boards that will be used for Summer Day Camps and other programs in the Township of Wellington North.
The project was a school-wide initiative with Mr. Verbeek’s first semester Grade 11 and 12 construction class doing research, design and construction of the boards. Ms. McEwan’s first semester Grade 9 art class, along with a dedicated Grade 10 student, stayed after school to paint the boards, which also includes the Township of Wellington North logo on each one.
“We truly appreciate the hard work and craftsmanship. You have a talented group of youth at WHSS,” a spokesperson for the Township of Wellington North said in a message sent to the school.
Cornhole is a popular outdoor game where players throw a bean bag at a sloped board with a hole at the end. Single points are scored for every bean bag that lands on the board with bean bags that go in the hole earning three points.
