As Ontarians participated in this year’s provincial election, UGDSB students have also exercised their democratic rights by electing their new student trustees.
These student leaders will represent the voices of their peers, advocate for student needs, and help shape the future of education in the district.
The UGDSB is excited to introduce Elisa E. from Erin District High School as the incoming rural student trustee and Wreighn F. from Guelph Collegiate Vocational Institute as the incoming urban student trustee for the 2025-26 school year.
Elisa, currently in Grade 10 at EDHS, is eager to bring her leadership, organization, and enthusiasm to the role. “Stepping into this position is truly an honor, and I’m excited to contribute my skills to make a meaningful impact,” she shared.
Wreighn, a Grade 11 student at GCVI, is involved in Link Crew, Model UN, and multiple clubs. As a first-generation immigrant, she is passionate about amplifying student voices. “True representation shows who you are, and no matter a student’s background, they deserve to be heard. We all have a role in shaping the future of our schools,” she said.
As student trustees, Elisa and Wreighn will work closely with the Student Senate and Board of Trustees, ensuring student perspectives are included in important decisions. Their leadership and advocacy will help foster an inclusive and dynamic learning environment for all UGDSB students.
Congratulations to Elisa and Wreighn—we look forward to your contributions in the year ahead!
