Students in Guelph and Centre Wellington are invited to explore enhanced skilled trades training available at UGDSB Alternative Education @ CHSS at the school’s Grade 10 Tech Days.
Starting in the 2025-26 school year, UGDSB Alternative Education @ CHSS will provide grade 11 and 12+ students with opportunities to graduate with SHSM designation, priority certifications, OYAP opportunities and unique, enhanced programming in Transportation (Auto Mechanics/Auto Body), Hospitality and Tourism (Culinary and Baking), Construction (Building Trades), Health and Wellness (Hairstyling and Aesthetics/Health Care), Horticulture and Landscaping, and Manufacturing (Welding and Machining).
Students will gain the skills and certifications needed for high demand careers and receive instruction from knowledgeable staff, learn in state-of-the-art facilities and connect with industry partners through apprenticeships and work experience.
At Grade 10 Tech Days, grade 10 students will tour CHSS to learn more about the programming that will be offered starting next year, and participate in hands-on activities.
