TORONTO, ON – On May 6 and 7, hundreds of students from across the province gathered at the Toronto Congress Centre for the 2024 Skills Ontario competition.
The Upper Grand District School Board had many student teams competing in the competition. Earlier in April, UG teams who placed first at the regional Skills competition, advanced to the provincial level.
During the elementary Provincial Skills competition, Waverley Drive Public School placed first in grade 7/8 Vex Robotics, and they also placed first in grade 7/8 Lego Mechanics. East Garafraxa Public School placed third in grade 4-6 Vex Robotics. Palmerston Public School also placed fifth in the grade 7/8 Tech Design competition*.
Also happening at the Toronto Congress Centre this week was the secondary Skills Ontario Competition.
Wil A from John F. Ross CVI placed first in Automotive Service Technology – coach Gary Bauman
Emma P from Centre Wellington DHS placed second in Culinary Arts – coach Chef Chris Jess
Colby L from John F Ross CVI placed second in Job Interview – coach Paul Lydan
Ben H from Guelph CVI placed second in Precision Machining – coach Matt Lyle
Jordan C from Centennial CVI placed third in Coding – coach Brad Cutten
Wil from John F. Ross CVI will be advancing to the National Skills competition in Quebec City at the end of May.
