Entering into its 52nd year, MusicFest Canada – “The Nationals” – brings thousands of students and educators from across the country together, over a one-week period, to celebrate excellence in musical performance. With an average attendance of 7,000 young musicians, it is the largest educational music convention in Canada. Not only does MusicFest Canada showcase the talent and knowledge of esteemed clinicians and adjudicators from across North America, it also showcases Canada’s own landscape by hosting the festival in a different metropolitan city each year.

Upper Grand District School Board schools had a record-setting year with all four schools who competed bringing home Gold medals at MusicFest Canada Nationals this past week at the University of Toronto.

  • The Centennial spARTanS Concert Ensemble, spARTanS Symphonic Ensemble, and spARTanS Acoustics all brought home National Gold medals.

  • The GCVI String Ensemble and GCVI Orchestra brought home National Gold medals.

  • The Erin “Tempo” Concert Band brought home a National Gold medal.

  • The Westside Concert Band brought home a National Gold medal.

  • The GCVI Jr Symphonic Band, GCVI Senior Symphonic Band, GCVI Gael Force Stage Band, and the Centennial spARTanS Stage Band all brought home National Silver medals as well.

Congratulations to all the musicians and educators who participated!
