Principal/Vice-Principal Scheduling Work Outside of the School Year Protocol
Introduction
The Ontario Principals’ Council (OPC) terms for 2023-2027 (Central Agreement), defines the standard work year for Principals and Vice-Principals as the regular school year (as per the approved school year calendar) and up to fifteen (15) additional workdays that are immediately adjacent to the end of and/or start of successive school years.
Principals and Vice-Principals are part of the UGDSB management team and are twelve (12) month employees.
School Boards had up to March 1, 2025 to engage in collaborative discussions with local OPC leadership regarding the establishment of a protocol regarding the additional workdays.
The protocol is intended as a supportive instrument and is not part of the employment terms and conditions for Principals and Vice-Principals.
The protocol is to be reviewed on a regular basis through a collaborative process.
