The Board received Ministry funding in November 2021 to facilitate the construction of a new 308-pupil place JK-8 elementary school in Centre Wellington. The Board had previously reserved an elementary school site in Phase 1 of the Storybrook subdivision in northwest Fergus. The new school in northwest Fergus is forecasted to open for the 2025/26 school year and will aid in accommodating forecasted growth while alleviating enrolment pressures from the surrounding schools.
A Boundary Review is a staff administrative process that provides the structure for reviewing a variety of accommodation options for resolving an issue with overcapacity or underutilized schools or when determining a new school boundary. This process is completed in accordance with Board Policy 320 – School Boundary Review. The Boundary Review Process for the New Centre Wellington School has begun and the recommendations will be implemented for the 2025-26 school year.
The process will involve the following schools:
Salem PS and Elora PS are the main schools impacted by the boundary review as they are currently the holding schools for students in the Storybrook Development Area (DA).
All other elementary schools in Centre Wellington will be included in initial Boundary Review Committee assessment until it is determined that their respective school boundaries are not impacted in any of the boundary options considered.
Any approved changes are expected to be implemented for the 2025-2026 school year.
Have your say with the New Centre Wellington ES Boundary Review Options SURVEY. (a new survey will posted once boundary options are prepared)
