Scholarships & Bursaries

The Scholarship Report – A One-stop Digital Resource For Ontario High Schools, Students, And Parents – Link And Password Have Been Posted To Gr 12 Google Classroom

Attention 2026 Grads! Guidance counsellors will be holding a Scholarship Information Session in the GI room at lunch on Monday, Sept 29th!

Come on out to learn about available scholarships, the application process, and tips on applying!

Hopefully many of you are thinking about applying for scholarships and bursaries for post secondary education.  There are many varied opportunities that will come up throughout this next year.  Some scholarships and bursaries are offered directly through the post secondary institution, while others are awarded/funded by outside groups and organizations (eg. The Loran Scholars Foundation, TD Scholarships for Community Leadership).  For an extensive list of scholarships and bursaries and their approximate application due dates see the chart that is linked below titled ‘Scholarship Info for CCVI Grads’.  Please note that there are many scholarships and bursaries that exist, therefore not all will be included in this document.  For this reason it is very important that you do your research to ensure that you do not miss out on any opportunities, particularly when it comes to scholarships specific to your post secondary institutions of interest.

For major scholarships that require nomination by our school, as well as a few other significant scholarships, we will be making announcements and posting the announcements to the Grade 12 Google Classroom.  For all other scholarships you will want to follow the chart posted and keep track of important dates on your own calendar.

You will also find below, and posted to the Google Classroom, tips on applying for scholarships and tips for scholarship interviews.  If you have individual questions or need support in the application process, you can book a guidance appointment.

Good luck with your research and applications!

New Scholarship/Bursary Opportunities:

TD Scholarships for Community Leadership:

Attention all grade 12 students planning to attend college or university in Sept 2026! Applications are now available online for the TD Scholarships for Community Leadership. These scholarships are valued at up to $70 000 over four years. The focus of these scholarships is not primarily on rewarding the highest marks in the classroom, but rather the mark students are making on the world. The key criterion is outstanding community leadership. These scholarships are awarded to students across Canada who have demonstrated consistent and outstanding dedication to helping improve the world by solving a social or community problem.

TD Scholarships for Community Leadership are available to students who are making contributions to support change, nurture progress, and help their communities thrive.

TD Scholarships for Community Leadership are open to students across Canada who:

  • Have demonstrated community leadership

  • Are in their final year of CEGEP (for students in Quebec), or high school (for students outside Quebec).

  • Have a minimum overall grade average of 75% (outside Quebec), or a minimum R score of 26 (in Quebec), in their most recently completed school year

  • Are Canadian citizens, have permanent resident status, or have protected person status under the Canadian Immigration and Refugee Protection Act. Note: Applicants with protected person status must also have a study permit as permitted under the Act.

The application can be accessed online (https://www.td.com/ca/en/personal-banking/solutions/student-banking/community-leadership-scholarship-for-canadians) and is due Wednesday, October 22nd. All components of the online application must be completed by October 22nd.  Connect with Ms. O'Brien in guidance if you have any questions.

Queen's University Major Admission Awards (including Chancellor's Scholarship):

Students who demonstrate superior academic ability (90+ cumulative average throughout high school), creative and original thinking, and proven leadership qualities can apply for the Queen’s University Major Admission Awards. The awards range in value from $40, 000 -$72, 000.

Queen's University offers 50 Chancellor's Scholarships valued at $48,000 to students chosen on the basis of nomination by their high school and submission of a detailed application form. Students are to complete, and SUBMIT/TURN IN, the assignment posted to the Grade 12 Google Classroom by 3:30 PM Friday, Nov 7th to be considered as one of the TWO students to be nominated by Centennial to apply for this award. Please make sure that you meet the above criteria if submitting your name for consideration. The two students selected for nomination by CCVI will be notified by Monday, Nov 17th.

All other Queen’s University Major Admission Awards do not require nomination from Centennial. Financial need is a criterion for these other awards.

All Queen’s University Major Admission Awards (including the Chancellor’s) require that the student has applied to Queen’s University through the OUAC by Nov 20th, 2025 so that access can be granted to the application. The single application to be considered for all of these awards is then due Dec 8th, 2025. A practice application is currently posted to their website for students that want to start working on their application.

The practice application contains the same questions that will appear on the Major Admissions Awards application.

Terry Fox Humanitarian Award

The Terry Fox Humanitarian Awards are valued at up to $28 000 and are awarded yearly to university or college bound students who demonstrate the highest ideals of citizenship. The Award is open to students of all abilities and all fields of study.  Recipients are selected for their dedication to the humanitarian ideals of Terry Fox, their courage in overcoming obstacles, and definite marks of distinction and persistence in the pursuit of excellence in academic, athletic, and civic life. They are looking for humanitarians, those who improve human welfare, make a difference, and have a positive impact on community and others. While Terry faced many obstacles, and quite clearly a physical one, candidates may face different types of obstacles. A myriad of obstacles exist, and they consider any adversity that calls for a demonstration of courage, compassion, and fortitude. Financial need is not in itself a criteria of the Award. It can, however, be included as an obstacle.

To access the application and more information visit terryfoxawards.ca.  Applications are due December 1st, 2025. Connect with Ms. O’Brien in guidance with any questions.
