PALMERSTON, ON – On November 27, 2024, Norwell District Secondary School hosted a spirited pep rally and hockey buyout that brought together approximately 550 students, including high school participants and grade eight students from Palmerston Public, Minto-Clifford, and Drayton Heights public schools. The event raised $858.65 for the MRI+ Campaign, supporting local healthcare initiatives.
The day kicked off with a high-energy pep rally organized by Norwell’s grade 12 leadership students. The highlight of the rally was a fast-paced "The Price is Right" game show, where enthusiastic volunteers took to the stage to guess the prices of sports items without going over. The games, music, and prizes engaged the audience as they cheered in anticipation of the hockey game.
Following the rally, students cheered on the Norwell Varsity Reds as they faced off against the Kincardine Knights in an exciting hockey match. The Varsity Reds emerged victorious with a 4-0 win, showcasing their skills and determination on the ice.
The event demonstrated Norwell’s school spirit and community engagement, with students and staff uniting for a cause while celebrating their shared passion for sports and teamwork.” Staff advisor, Betty Douglas, commented, “The funds raised will contribute to improved healthcare resources through the MRI+ Campaign, leaving a lasting impact beyond the rink.”
