Mount Forest, ON — Congratulations to grade 12 Wellington Heights Secondary School student, Connor S. who received the Ontario Minor Hockey Association’s (OMHA) $5,000 bursary.

The bursary was presented in collaboration with Dairy Farmers of Ontario. Connor was one of eight recipients to receive the $5,000 bursary among the thousands of applicants who applied for it all across the province.

The OMHA’s criteria for those to receive the bursary are for students to assist in building stronger and healthier communities through volunteering and extracurriculars, to achieve on-ice success, as well a passion for the game of hockey and sport community; and lastly, to demonstrate dedication to studies and attainment of high grades in the classroom while being leaders in school.

Connor said the application process was difficult for him because he had to write out a letter detailing his hockey achievements, his extracurriculars, his community service in and outside of school “It was extremely awkward for me to talk about myself, because I’ve never been one to brag.”

Connor said upon realizing that he had won the bursary, it quickly became “one of my proudest accomplishments.”
