On February 26th, Pink Shirt Day was recognized at Wellington Heights and across Canada. Thanks to all of our Wolverine students and staff who wore pink to show their support for anti-bullying efforts. The original Pink Shirt Day was organized in 2007 by two Grade 12 students named David Shepherd and Travis Price of Berwick, Nova Scotia, who bought and distributed 50 pink shirts after Grade 9 student Chuck McNeill was bullied for wearing a pink polo shirt during the first day of school at Central Kings Rural High School. Now their care and concern have led to a movement celebrated across the globe, and people wear pink on this day to show support for anti-bullying efforts. Any student who witnesses someone being bullied, or who is a victim, is encouraged to report it to a teacher or Administrator. Students can also report it anonymously online through the "Report Harm/Bullying" tool on our school website.
