Hello Victoria Cross P.S. parents/caregivers,
On Thursday, November 14th, 2024 Communication of Learning - Initial Observations (for Kindergarten) and Progress Reports (Grades 1-8) will be made available online through the School Report Card Portal (also linked on the school’s website). If this is your first time accessing report cards electronically or you are experiencing difficulty, please visit the following site for details and support: Report Card Support.
Below are a few details about each type of report:
Communication of Learning - Initial Observations
The purpose of this report is to provide an overview of observations of your child’s learning since the start of the school year and early evidence of growth in learning in relation to the overall expectations of The Kindergarten Program. This first formal report of the school year can help educators and families develop a positive relationship as partners who share the goal of helping children to be successful. It will give you information about appropriate next steps to support your child’s learning both at school and at home.
Elementary Progress Report
The Progress Report is not an evaluation of your child’s achievement. Rather, the purpose is to give students and parents early and specific feedback regarding general progress during the first two months of the school year. The Progress Report will tell you how well your child is developing in their learning skills and work habits, as well as how they are progressing in all subject areas. Evaluation or marks are included on the Term 1 and 2 reports in February and June.
What is meant by the phrases, Progressing With Difficulty, Progressing Well, and Progressing Very Well?
Progressing With Difficulty: The student work is currently not meeting the provincial standard and it is the teacher’s professional judgment that the student will require assistance and individual improvement to meet the provincial standard by the end of the term.
Progressing Well: The student is demonstrating ongoing, consistent progress towards meeting the provincial standard and there is evidence that the student is meeting or will likely meet the provincial standard by the end of Term 1. For students with modified IEPs, this means they will likely meet their individual goals.
Progressing Very Well: The teacher is confident that the student will meet or surpass the provincial standard by the end of Term 1. There is very consistent evidence that the student has met or surpassed the provincial standard.
As mentioned, Progress Reports and Kindergarten Communication of Learning - Initial Observations will be available online as of Thursday, November 14th at 9:00am. You will need to have a parent/caregiver account set up to access progress reports. Please use your email that is associated with the school. Details for setting this up can be found here: https://www.ugdsb.ca/parents/connected/ The link to the Support Page should be helpful.
Please email the school if you require a paper copy.
