Good afternoon RCPS families,

Looks like a nicer week ahead with temperatures that are enjoyable for winter and sunshine!

A few reminders:

Kiss n ride- please drop off quickly and avoid parking. We are noticing a lot of cars parking to bring students in and it is meant to be a kiss n ride area for quick drop offs.

Sledge hockey trips- We have our sledge hockey trips this week for our grades 6-8 classes to participate in.  Thank you to school council for funding this trip for our students including travel on the bus and ice time.

Please encourage your children to dress for the cold conditions and to pack their own hockey helmet and gloves (if they own some). If not, helmets are available.

Moves-please let the office know if you are moving or know someone who is moving in as we start to prepare with enrollment numbers for next year.

Lunar New Year- 2025

This year, Lunar New Year falls on Wednesday, Jan. 29. It ends Feb. 12.  Lunar New Year is a celebration of the arrival of spring and the beginning of a new year. Celebrated across Asia and beyond, the start of a new year based on the cycles of the moon rather than the calendar. It always aligns with the first new moon of the lunar calendar, marking the beginning of a new lunar cycle and ending on the first full moon.  It is the most important holiday in China, and it is also widely celebrated in South Korea, Vietnam, and countries with a significant overseas Chinese population.

We continue to sell popcorn and cookies on Wednesdays for $2 each if interested.

Webinar for EQAO Math Night for Parents and Guardians January 28, 2025 or February 18, 2025

Join us for a free live webinar where EQAO staff will discuss math questions that Ontario students encounter when they participate in Ontario’s large-scale assessments. These assessments are taken by all Ontario students in Grades 3, 6 and 9. During the webinar, EQAO staff will show how these math questions help assess the skills students are learning in their math classes. Staff will also share valuable insights from the past three years of assessment results, which can help parents and guardians support their children’s math learning.

This Friday, Jan 31, we have beach day planned as a spirit day. Students can come to school wearing their beach gear (no bathing suits) such as t-shirts and shorts (this could be under their winter clothing), sunglasses, hats etc. Have fun and feel free to be creative!

Have a great week!
