The UGDSB Before and/or After School Program (BASP) Survey is live
January 7, 2025
The Upper Grand District School Board Before and/or After School Program (BASP) survey is now open to parents and guardians.
This survey is intended to gather information about the number of children who need before and/or after school care for September 2025 at schools that do not currently offer a BASP.
Please complete the BASP survey if your child will be entering JK/SK in September 2025 or is currently registered in Kindergarten to Grade 5 and will need access to a BASP and if a Program is not already offered in your child's school. Only parents/guardians requiring care at these schools are asked to complete the survey (one per family).
The survey will close at the end of the day on January 31, 2025, and will not reopen after this point in time, so please take a moment to fill out the survey before 4 p.m. on January 31, 2025.
BASPs within UGDSB schools are not board operated. It is important to note that the addition of a new BASP is solely reliant on the ability of a Third Party Child Care Operator to provide these services. Information from the survey about before and/or after school needs is helpful when determining the viability of a new Program and understanding the needs of families is helpful for their consideration.
Please note that the survey's completion does not guarantee that a Before and/or After School Program (BASP) will be offered at your child's school and does not register your child or put them on a wait list.
You can find out more information about the BASP and the link to the BASP survey by viewing the brochure here or by visiting the BASP page of the board website here.

Sledge Hockey for Rockwood Centennial PS Students
Rockwood Centennial PS students in Grades 6-8 have been invited to participate in the Upper Grand DSB Sledge Hockey program. Also known as para hockey, this inclusive sport is designed for athletes with physical disabilities and promotes equity and inclusion.
Each class will have one ice-time session at Exhibition Park Arena in Guelph to learn the basics of sledge hockey and play with their peers. The program will run on January 28th, 30th, and February 3rd. Hockey helmets (with a cage) and gloves will be available to borrow, but students are encouraged to bring their own if possible. Skates are not required, as players will use sleds with blades to move on the ice.
This exciting opportunity has been generously funded by School Council, covering all costs, including ice time and transportation, so it is free for all students to participate. It promises to be a fun and meaningful experience for our Rockwood students! Thank you to our School Council for supporting this initiative for our grade 6-8 students. Trip forms with dates will be sent home shortly by your classroom teacher.
PA Day Jan 24th
Friday, Jan 24th is a PA Day and there is no school for students. Staff will be working on assessment and evaluation and report card writing for Term 1. Report cards will be available on February 12th.
