The CELP Mentor Co-op Position is for mature Grade 11, Grade 12 or 12 Plus students who have completed the CELP Program. CELP Co-ops are in a position of trust with Grade 10 students and must demonstrate maturity, leadership and good decision making skills. Previous CELP teachers will be consulted as references. There may be an interview process. CELP Co-ops will be expected to:
Be on-site for the full day daily (8:45 am to 3:00 pm)
Assist with CELP daily routines (phone zones, morning circle, breaks)
Provide academic and group dynamic support
Plan and lead morning circles and activities
Teach and give feedback on EcoStars activities
Provide logistical support and play key roles in EcoStars
Go on the field camp trip and other trips
Assist with program gear, logistics, administration, and promotion
Assist with classroom tasks
Plan and implement a “Mentor Day” final project
Log hours, complete weekly reflections and assignments
Qualifications
The EcoStars expertise required for this position demands that students be former CELPers and that they be very mature. Grade 11 students may apply but the level of maturity required would demand an exceptional candidate. CELP may decide not take any candidates if none fitting our requirements applies as this unique leadership position requires great maturity and independence. As well, the selection process also takes into consideration the making of suitable leadership pairings as a key factor in the selection.
Credits
Students will receive two co-op credits and must enroll in two online courses of their choice so that they can be at CELP for the full day all semester. Students are required to do two online credits for their high school diploma.
