Families are invited to join us for our third student-led National Day for Truth and Reconciliation Flag Raising Event at Paisley Road P.S. on September 30th, from 9:30 am to 9:50 am. We encourage everyone to wear an orange shirt as a sign of support for Truth and Reconciliation with Indigenous Nations.
The event will take place outside in front of the school. Students have been learning about the truth of Indian Residential Schools through survivor stories and materials provided by UGDSB. Together, we will honour those who lost their lives and those who survived, as we raise the Survivor’s Flag.
This flag, designed in consultation with Survivors across Canada, represents our ongoing commitment to meaningful learning and action. Several classes have already pledged to read the 94 Calls to Action or articles from UNDRIP as part of this commitment. We invite you to stand with us in this important work as we continue to strive for reconciliation.
