Policy Updates: www.ugdsb.ca/policy

The Upper Grand District School Board is seeking feedback on draft Policy 214: Accessibility. Public consultation on this updated policy is now open. Feedback will be received until February 13, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. EST.

This policy conveys the board’s commitment to removing barriers to accessibility, fostering equity and inclusivity within the board, and to exceeding the provincial accessibility standards where possible. It has been revised to align with the board’s updated Multi-Year Accessibility Plan and now contains sections that define the work of the Human Rights, Equity and Accessibility office and the Accessibility Committee, and outlines the ongoing practices at the board to integrate accessibility considerations. The policy name is shortened to be better reflective of the scope of the policy and the many practices the board undertakes to accommodate persons with disabilities.

This policy is important to students, staff, school councils, parents, community partners and members of the local community because understanding the accessibility needs of persons with disabilities and ensuring they have access to the goods, services, and facilities of the board requires the cooperation of the entire board community.
