EJPS Week at a Glance (Feb 10-14)

Chers parents,

Next week will be the start of term 2 and the time to set goals with our young learners based on the feedback found in their term 1 Report Card, which will be available online on Feb 12th by 4PM. Reminders, instructions, and support links to access and understand the report card will come out next week in a separate email and hard copy letter. Please know that great time, care, and consideration is taken when providing an evaluation of your child’s learning. We appreciate your trust in us! Be sure to celebrate their strengths and support them to reflect on next steps towards improvement. Prioritize what skills or subjects may require more effort or support. Remember, reading is key to all learning! Also keep in mind, writing in French is a very challenging skill set and takes time for most students to develop proficiently. It’s normal to see French writing as an area of challenge. Good self-confidence and a growth mindset are also essential to an enjoyable and successful time at school. The learning skills section of the report card will give you good insight into your child’s confidence and openness to feedback. Lastly, remember that every learner is unique and learning spurts and learning dips happen at different stages for different children. It’s important to be patient as well as supportive. As the adults in their lives it’s imperative that we continue to work together towards supporting our learners to become independent and self-actualizing through a gradual release of responsibility and prepare the child for the path as opposed to preparing the path for the child. If you have any questions about your child’s report card do not hesitate to contact their teacher.

Here is some communication from our School Council:

It’s that time of year again for our annual Dance-a-thon. This year’s theme is “Reach for the Stars!” and it will also be a glow party. We are encouraging students to wear white shirts and are welcome to decorate them with glow paint ahead of time. The event will occur on Thursday, February 20th throughout the day. The Dance-a-thon is another opportunity for students to raise money for classroom workshops, recess equipment, technology, and our new outdoor play structure. Pledge forms were sent home last week

This year we are making it even easier to collect pledges as we have included a QR code which will direct donors directly to our EJ online donation page through Canada Helps. Donations will be accepted via cash, cheque or online, but it is important the student tracks the amount of donations and circles how each donation was given. This is because we are offering a whole class pizza party prize to the class that has the most funds raised in the school. Let’s leverage the power of collaboration! Tax receipts will be given to any donation over $20, but it is important for the student to write down their full name, mailing address, and donation amount. If the donation is made online this information will be required to complete the transaction, and the donor can make a note of who they are supporting in the optional message box. Reach out to your family, friends and neighbours to pledge their support, and remember to thank them for their generosity.  We are looking forward to this year's event as we know it will be a lot of fun. Let’s Reach for the Stars!
