EJPS Week at a Glance (Sep 23-Sept 27)
Chers parents,
Thank you for another great week at EJ! We had excellent spirit and participation for the Terry Fox Walk today. Thank you to Mme Ammon for organizing this important event! Your children continue to demonstrate a love of learning and respect for all. Students are using the WITS (Walk away, Ignore, Talk about it, Seek help) strategy when conflicts occur. Please continue to encourage them to use their WITS when challenges with others arise. It was also a pleasure to meet with and begin our work with the EJPS School Council last Tuesday. Staff and students at EJPS are so grateful for all the School Council does. I can already see that teamwork makes the dream work! Speaking of teamwork, please consider volunteering to help our School Council run the Fall Fair next Thursday, from 5-7PM (more information below).
In other news, I’d like to bring an important safety concern around the staff parking lot to all parents’ attention. Due to safety concerns, the parking lot is NOT to be used as a drop-off area for students between 8:10 -8:40 AM and 2:40 - 3:10 PM. It is not safe for students to be walking through the parking lot in a scenario where multiple parents are driving in and out of the parking lot during busy mornings or after school. Additionally, if an emergency vehicle needed to enter our school parking lot, traffic congestion and unnecessary traffic flow could delay their response time. For the safety of our students, please park and walk your child from the appropriate nearby parking areas. EJPS does not have a Kiss-N-Ride area, however, we are very fortunate to have crossing guards nearby at Stevenson St N and on Speedvale Ave E. There is lots of parking at the nearby plaza and on Balsam Dr, Pine Dr, and more. https://www.ugdsb.ca/johnson/wp-content/uploads/sites/32/2020/08/EJP-Parking-Map-2020-Draft-1.pdf
Parents who are dropping their children off at the YMCA program or who are having a teacher meeting before or after the 8:10 AM and 3:10 PM window are welcome to use the parking lot.
Parents who are picking up or dropping off their children for day appointments can use the staff parking lot between 8:40 AM and 2:40 PM.
Lastly, any parent needing to use our staff parking at any time of the day for accessibility reasons can contact me at olivier.cutz@ugdsb.on.ca so a temporary or longer term parking arrangement can be made.
Thank you for your support and cooperation to keep our students safe!

Calling all bakers!
Looking for a fun way to help our school? The School Council is searching for some yummy treats to sell at our Family Fall Fair Fundraiser on Thursday, September 26th from 5-7pm. Please consider baking or buying NUT-FREE individual treats to donate to our Bake Sale table. Our Bake Sale table has been a big hit averaging $700 in sales, let's try to meet that goal or beat it!
If you are interested in helping, please email ejschoolcouncil@gmail.com. Let us know what your item will be (e.g., cupcakes, brownies, etc.) and an estimated price that you think we could sell it for. All items will need to be at the school on September 26th by 3:30pm. All proceeds will go directly towards EJ School Council initiatives including The New Playground Fund. Thank you!
Cheers,
EJ School Council
Please continue to support your child getting to school on time, we know it’s not always easy! Enjoy your weekend as we officially transition into Fall!
