Hello Arbour Vista families,
As spring arrives, it's great to see our students and school community thriving. With routines in place, our students are focused and engaged in their learning. There's plenty to look forward to in the coming months.
Police in the School
On April 7th, Officer Natasha Grant from the Guelph Police will be visiting the school. Students in Grades 3-5 will attend a presentation on Bike Safety, while Grade 5 students will also receive a presentation on Online Safety. Additionally, there will be a Bus Patrol Recruitment for the 2025-2026 school year. Interested students are invited to an information session in the Library during the second break.
Parent Guest Speaker Event/In-Person Council Event
Arbour Vista is excited to welcome Michael Jacques, author of Can’t Read, Can’t Write, Here’s My Book and I Belong: Can I Play?, on May 6th during Mental Health and Education Week (May 5–9). In addition to his visit with students, Michael will stay for a special presentation for adults, where he will share his life experiences to highlight the power of belonging. Diagnosed with autism and an intellectual disability at a young age, Michael's story is both inspiring and impactful.

EQAO Webinar for Parents and Guardians of Elementary School Students
Register for this free live webinar and learn about EQAO’s primary and junior Assessments of Reading, Writing and Mathematics. Participants will learn about the purpose of Ontario’s large-scale assessments. EQAO staff will explain the assessment format, highlight resources to support students, and answer questions from participants. The session will be approximately 45 minutes, followed by a live Q&A with EQAO staff.
Free Fluoride Varnish
Through Public Health students are eligible to receive a free Fluoride varnish at school on May 6th.
Fluoride varnish is a protective coating that makes teeth stronger and prevents cavities. If you would like your child to receive treatment, please register by visiting wdgpublichealth.ca/fluoride
Morning Drop Off
This is a reminder to please watch your speed when dropping off your children on Zaduk place. Be advised that the municipal speed camera is coming to Zaduk place. In addition, please avoid making a u turn after drop off as this is a very busy time of day with numerous students on foot. Your continued vigilance during this very busy time of day is appreciated.
Cold Weather
These days it seems to be best to dress in layers. Sometimes the weather can take a turn part way during the day. Please remind your children to pick up their coats etc..if they take them off during recess to avoid losing them. Families are always welcome to check the lost and found for missing items. It is situated outside of the main office
Wear Pink on Wednesday April 9
Every year, on the second Wednesday of April, people around the world are urged to put on a pink shirt and stand in solidarity with the 2SLGBTQIA+ community to continue fighting for equality and acceptance. Discrimination takes many shapes, whether it’s based on race, age, disabilities, gender or sexuality.
Grad Re-takes
Thursday April 10th, Arbour Vista will be the host school for Pegasus Grad Retakes. If your Grade 8 students require retakes, please make sure they come to school Thursday morning wearing their white shirts and smile.
Grade 8 Composites
For families of grade 8 students, just a friendly reminder that the deadline to order the Graduation Composite is fast approaching on April 15.
Cookie Fundraiser
We’re kicking off a Cookie Dough Drop Fundraiser to help offset the cost of the Grade 8 Year-End Trip! Choose from a variety of delicious flavors, including vegan and gluten-free options, and stock up on ready-to-bake cookie dough the whole family will love. Order pick up will be May 14th.
