Good Morning Arbour Vista Families, 

Soon we'll be welcoming the warmth and beauty of spring.  As we say goodbye to the lingering rain/snow, let's look forward to the arrival of a new season. Spring symbolizes growth, renewal, and transformation, filling our days with blooming flowers and fresh greenery.  We have a lot planned for this spring.  Please take a few moments to read through this week’s message.

Faith Days During April

Acknowledging and celebrating days of faith is an important aspect of many religious traditions and cultures. Different faiths have their own holy days, festivals, and observances that hold significance for their followers. During the month of April, please see the days that will be acknowledged and celebrated by some members of our school community. Please note that there is diversity within faith communities and that no one list can represent all faith traditions or observances.

*Please note that we acknowledge Sikh Heritage Month, Autism Awareness Month, International Day of Silence, World Day of Safety and Health, International Day of Pink: Anti-Bullying and Anti-Homophobia and other significant dates during the Month of April. These are not included on the chart above, as they are not days of faith/religious holidays.

PD Day

Registration for Grade 8 Summer School 

Registration for Grade 8 Summer School Is Now Open on myBlueprint.

Grade 8 Reach-Ahead - Grade 8 students may earn a high school credit before entering secondary school in September.  Online learning (asynchronous) courses run from July 2 - 25.  Two specialized program options are offered for in-person learning in Guelph pending sufficient enrollment. Please reach out to homeroom teachers for more information.

Police in the School

Please be advised that on April 7th, Officer Natasha Grant, with Guelph Police will be at the school. Students in Grades 3-5 will receive a presentation on Bike Safety and students in Gr 5 will also receive a presentation on Online Safety. As well as Bus Patrol Recruitment for the 2024-2025 School Year. Any students interested will be invited to attend an information session in the Library during the second break. 

School Council

Our School Council has been hard at work, planning and organizing exciting fundraising and community events for École Arbour Vista. If you would like to lend a hand or have great ideas worth sharing, please join us on Tuesday April 2, from 6:30-7:30 at our Virtual Council meeting. The link can be found on our website.

Gr 3 & Gr 6 EQAO

If you have a child in Grade 3 and/or Grade 6, please make note of the scheduled dates for EQAO. It is especially important to try to avoid appointments and to ensure punctuality during this time. Thank you for your support.

• Grade 6-May 26th to May 29th

• Grade 3- June 2nd to June 5th

Guelph Transit- Did you know?

The City of Guelph has asked us to share information about free transit available to children and youth in Guelph. 

• Kids Ride Free: Children aged five to 12 can ride Guelph Transit for free with a registered OnYourWay fare card. The Kids Ride Free program was made permanent by Council in April 2023 due to the success of the pilot.

•  Children aged four and under can continue to ride on Guelph Transit buses for free without a fare card. 

• Youth Ride Free: Beginning on February 1, 2025, Guelph Transit introduced a pilot program where youth ages 13-17 can ride Guelph Transit for free every weekday after 5pm and on weekends and holidays, with a registered OnYourWay fare card. This pilot will be in effect until December 31, 2025.
