Arbour Vista School

Hello Arbour Vista Families,

I hope this letter finds you and your family in good health and high spirits. With the winter season in full swing, I would like to remind everyone about the importance of ensuring our students are dressed appropriately for the weather. Please make sure your children come to school with warm coats, hats, gloves, and boots to keep them comfortable and safe during outdoor activities.

Additionally, I am excited to announce that we have a new hanging rack in the school foyer for our Lost and Found items. If your child has misplaced any belongings, please encourage them to check the Lost and Found regularly. We have accumulated quite a collection of items, and we hope this new system will make it easier for students to locate their lost possessions.

Bussing

As many of you are aware, Student Transportation has been experiencing an increased shortage of drivers. This may impact student drop off and pick up times. We inform families about late buses as soon as they are posted. Please note that this is beyond our scope of control. Please ensure you have registered for notifications from Wellington-Dufferin Student Transportation Services.

Bus Cancellation Days

If the bus does not run in the morning it will not run in the afternoon.  Please arrive to pick up your child on time at 2:40.  On inclement weather days the parking lot is extra busy.  Please only stop in the outside lane (lane closest to the school) and have your child enter the car on the passenger side.

If you are in the inside lane (closest to the parked cars), continue to circle the lot until you are able to pull in.  Parked/stopped cars in this lane prohibits cars from leaving and slows down the whole process. Once you pick up your child please leave the parking lot promptly to allow for others to pick up.

Parking

Stopping on the side of the street out front of the school is also not permitted, as per the posted signage. This blocks the flow of traffic and can pose safety concerns. Please drop students off in the Kiss N’ Ride lane in the parking lot or park and walk in with your student(s). Sharing this messaging with anyone picking up or dropping off your student (s) is appreciated.

This message does not apply to parents  with pre- arranged drop off and pick up arrangements to support students with accessibility needs, or if picking up a child who is very ill.  They may pull into the bus lane.

Term 1 Report Cards

Term 1 Report Cards will be available to parents on  February 12th in the parent portal. On the new website, you will have to scroll to the bottom of the page. Under “Quick Links”, select ConnectED for Parents. This will take you to the parent portal.

UG Connect

If you have not already done so please make sure that you have the APP.

We will no longer have access to School Messenger which is how we send messages in email format out to the school community.  School Messenger will not be accessible  at the end of February.

Students Trading/Sharing  Food

For the safety of all students, please ensure that children do not trade food at school. Due to potential allergies, it's crucial that students only eat what was sent from home. This helps prevent allergic reactions and keeps everyone healthy. We appreciate your cooperation in reinforcing this important rule. Thank you for your support.
