Hello Arbour Vista families,

I hope you had a nice weekend and had the opportunity to connect with friends and family.

Professor Jamz

A big thank you to the school council for organizing such a fun and fundraiser event.  The students had a great time and there was a buzz of energy all day long.  The School Council was able to raise $6,035.25  which will go towards reducing the price of Dance ed.

Remembrance Day

Today we will have  a special Remembrance Day assembly to honor the sacrifices made for our freedom and peace. During the assembly we will observe a minute of silence, providing a moment for reflection and gratitude. We remember the significance of November 11th and why it's important to pay our respects to those who serve and have served in the armed forces. All classes will participate in the creation of a wreath and our Intermediate students will share a powerpoint presentation which will highlight the role of different groups of veterans including and not limited to women, 2SLGBTQIA+, black and Indigenous Veterans.

Parent Involvement Committee (PIC)

PIC will be hosting a Parent/Community Event on November 25, 2024.

The agenda and link to register for the event are included on the below flyer.

Fall Progress Reports

The fall Progress Reports get uploaded to the parent portal on November 13th and provide students and parents with early and specific feedback on the progress made in the first two months of the school year. After these progress reports go home, there will be an opportunity for parent/teacher conferences. This provides you with an opportunity to find out how your child is progressing and work with the teacher to support their areas for growth.

Parent/Teacher Interviews

PA Day: November 29th, 2024

There is a board wide professional activity day on November 29th, for teachers and parents to meet regarding student progress.

Teachers may choose to stay on Thursday November 28th, to facilitate additional interviews.  Your child’s teacher will reach out to you to share their plan.

Interview sign up will take place on-line and interviews can be done in person or via Google Meet. More information is coming soon!

Extreme Weather and City of Guelph Crossing Guards:

As student safety is our top priority, we would like parents to be aware that the City of Guelph adult crossing guard program will not operate on extreme weather days, when buses are cancelled.

Have a great week!
