Our School
Brisbane Public School is a Kindergarten to Grade 6 dual track school, located just west of the town of Erin on Wellington Road 124. The school has an approximate population of 400 students and thirty staff. English track students come from the rural communities of Brisbane, Orton, and Ospringe. French Immersion students come from the same communities, plus the towns of Erin and Hillsburgh.
Nineteen busses, operated by Denny Bus Lines, transport students to and from school each day. The busses also carry high school students and students from the Separate School System, some of whom transfer busses at Brisbane. Students who graduate from Brisbane go to Erin Public School for Grades 7 and 8, then to Erin District High School for Grades 9-12.
Brisbane Public School has a very active School Council, which supports many educational initiatives and community events. The funds raised by Council promote quality programs and provide extra activities for all students. Parent volunteers are an integral part of the day-to-day activities at Brisbane Public School including supporting student reading, helping with snack, pizza, milk etc.
Students at Brisbane enjoy healthy snacks on Mondays and Thursdays. These snacks are funded by Food and Friends and organized by parent volunteers. Students can also participate in the milk/sub and/or pizza program.
Appleseed Child Care operates a before and after school program to assist parents. Students may be dropped off as early as 7 a.m. and picked up as late as 5:45 p.m. Appleseed works closely with the school and parents to provide a variety of high caliber recreational and educational activities for children.
